A Formal Theory for the Discovery of Local Boundaries in a Melodic Surface
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper a general theory will be introduced that facilitates the detection of local boundaries in melodic surfaces. A model will be proposed that discovers points of maximum local change that allow a listener to identify potential perceptual boundaries. It is suggested that the Local Boundary Detection Model (LBDM) presents a more effective method for low-level segmentation in relation to other existing models and it may be incorporated as a supplementary module to more general grouping structure theories.

Musical Rhythm: A Formal Model for Determining Local Boundaries, Accents and Metre in a Melodic Surface
In this paper a general theory will be introduced that allows the description of a melodic surface i.e. a score-like representation of a melody in terms of local grouping, accentuation and metrical structures. Firstly, a formal model will be proposed that detects points of maximum local change that allow a listener to identify local perceptual boundaries in a melodic surface. The Local Botmdary...
متن کاملFinite difference method for sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories
In this article, finite difference method (FDM) is used to solve sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling analysis of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories. The uniform temperature change is used to study thermal effect. The small scale and surface energy effects are added into the governing equations using Eringen’s non-local elasticity...

متن کاملApplication of surface-derived attributes in determining boundaries of potential-field sources
This paper describes an edge detection method based on surface-derived attributes. The surface-derived attributes are widely used in the interpretation ofseismic datain two main categories: (1) derivative attributes including the dip angle and the azimuth; (2) derivative attributes including curvature attributes. In general, the magnitude of the normal curvature of a surface (curvature attri...

This article is about the institutional collaboration in the management structure of a city-region. To achieve this purpose, corporate limits of Qazvin are studied as the city is becoming a region. The possible institutional cooperative in the centralist governmental structure is planned based on the new regionalism theory and its governance pattern, new institutionalism theory and its emphas...
